Camp-Out Weekend
Save the Date
May 29–31, 2026
Benalto, Alberta
A yearly gathering for creators seeking real connection and sustained creative momentum.
Camp-Out Weekend is the annual in-person gathering included with every tier of IAH Recording Club at Benalto Sound. The weekend brings members together through open-stage acoustic jams by the fire, structured studio collaboration sessions, and outdoor conversations that allow connection to develop naturally.
This is not a showcase or a performance-driven event. It is a shared creative gathering designed to feel low pressure, high trust, and genuinely collaborative.
What it is
Gathering-first. Studio-collaboration. Campfire connections.
Expect:
Camping setup
Tents and trailers welcome
Camp-Out Weekend is a true camp gathering:
- Tenting is welcome
- Camping trailers / small campers are welcome (space and placement coordinated in advance)
For comfort and safety, we’ll share a simple arrival map and guidelines with members closer to the date.
Community indoor space
Artist Residence suite open for community use
The upstairs Artist Residence suite will be open for community use during the weekend — a place to reset, connect, and warm up.
It also serves as an inclement weather fallback for conversations, workshops, and small-group hangouts.
Studio collaboration blocks
Three sessions a day — pre-registered for quality + flow
Each day includes three structured studio collaboration sessions. These are pre-registered so groups are balanced, sessions stay productive, and everyone gets a great experience.
How registration works
- Members receive a short intake + preference form (genres, roles, interests)
- We assign sessions based on availability and interest, aiming for a strong mix of writers, producers, and artists in each room
- You’ll receive your schedule before the weekend so you can arrive ready
Wildcard late-night studio session
Drop in. Create. Follow the moment.
Each night includes one late-night wildcard studio session that’s open to drop-ins. This is the “anything can happen” slot — spontaneous collaborations, late-night edits, surprise vocal takes, and new connections.
Outdoor conversations + workshop stage (Saturday)
Short sessions with real takeaways — practical, interactive, and human.
Topics often include:
- finishing systems (how to complete more songs)
- collaboration culture (how to lead + support in rooms)
- hook and lift clinic
- session readiness and workflow
- next steps after a weekend of creation
Community meals
Shared tables are part of the culture.
Saturday Potluck Dinner
Bring a dish or item if you can — even something simple. If you can’t, come anyway. The point is the table, not perfection.
Sunday Big Breakfast
A closing breakfast gathering — slower morning energy, shared food, and a final send-off circle.
The vibe
Open stage — open rooms — open community.
