CAMP-OUT WEEKEND

May 28–30, 2027
Benalto Sound, Alberta

Not a showcase.
Not a conference.
A real creative environment.

What it is

Camp-Out Weekend is the annual in-person gathering that closes out the Recording Club year.

It’s designed to build real creative relationships through in-person collaboration.

Structured 3-hour studio blocks during the day
Free time for open collaboration in the Artist Residence spaces
Conversations and workshops with practical takeaways
Shared meals and time to actually get to know one another

The vibe

Open rooms.
Open community.

Other than the scheduled studio blocks, you can move between spaces freely. Join an impromptu session, step into a conversation, or just sit back and listen.

Bring your instrument, your notebook, your curiosity
Collaborate in 3-hour, structured studio blocks
If you’re not in a formal studio block, collaborate in Artist Residence spaces or around the campsite
Engage in workshops that are grounded and useful

Come as you are. Participate as much as you want.

FAQ

No. Daytime studio sessions are pre-assigned, so you don’t need to register for those separately. Workshop sign-ups will be shared ahead of the weekend for those who want to take part.

Yes. The late-night flow studio session is open for drop-ins, so you’re welcome to join in. You can also start your own jam, writing session, or casual collaboration anytime outdoors or in the Artist Residence spaces.

Be prepared for rain or shine. Indoor spaces will be available 24 hours a day for workshops, hangouts, and casual collaboration if the weather shifts.

No, but Campout Weekend is camping-style at its core. Most guests stay on-site with their own camping gear, which helps create the full weekend experience.

That said, camping is not required. If you’d prefer a bed and daily shower, there are hotel options in Sylvan Lake, about a 12-minute drive from Benalto Sound.
